Dr. Cubit, a.k.a. Ronnie was born in California and lived in Southeast San Diego (Daygo), and lived for a short period in Dayton, Ohio. Ronnie is an outdoor person and enjoys hiking, backpacking, camping, four-wheeling, and spending time in his recreation vehicle. Ronnie loves music (smooth jazz, old-school, classic soft rock), and his trail name is Dr. C. He also enjoys cracking some tile a.k.a dancing for some of you. He believes in keeping fit however, nachos can be his downfall. Ronnie enjoys wielding a green thumb, making people laugh, and can burn in the kitchen sometimes. Ronnie is still a devout Los Angeles Chargers (formerly San Diego Chargers), San Diego Padres, and Los Angeles Lakers fan. He currently resides in Englewood, Colorado.
Ronnie was labeled a disadvantaged African American young person. In San Diego, he attended a job-training program for disadvantaged youth and, if defined today, was among the hardest to serve. Ronnie was a high school dropout and later in life earned his diploma. He now has a doctorate from Pepperdine University. Ronnie also has a master’s degree and a bachelor’s degree, both from the University of Redlands. He also has two associate’s degrees (Victor Valley College and Long Beach City College) and, in the past, completed classes for his teaching credential.
In Fool’s Hill, Ronnie communicates how God, education, family, and other things helped change his life and that learning in any form can be rewarding. Ronnie has extensive experience in teaching, training, and workforce development in the public and nonprofit sectors and is currently employed in an organization that helps disadvantaged individuals acclimate to life and employment. He was a professor at five universities or colleges and his work experience includes teaching in public education. He served nearly eight years in the United States Marine Corps.
Ronnie has three fantastic children and six outstanding grandchildren. In Fool’s Hill, he states that his children positively changed his life. Based on his experiences, Ronnie aspires to help others avoid the pitfalls of life, which is his reason for writing Fool’s Hill. He believes that anyone can overcome life’s challenges. His mantras include “Forge on,” “UCAN2,” and fraternally, “Success to you.”
